Enrollment Excitement

If you are reading this then hopefully you have found our new website.  In the coming weeks we will be sending out links on Facebook and Twitter when pages on the website are updated with new information.  

Let me start by saying thank you to all our staff involved in our enrollment last week.  From the reviews that I have seen/heard thus far, it was a resounding success!  We wanted to try something different this year in hopes of providing a measure of convenience for parents, and to showcase the fantastic organizations found throughout our community.  Preparations and discussions are already taking place to find ways to improve the enrollment process.

We also wanted to emphasize the completion of free and reduced lunch applications.  The more applications that are received, and in turn the more that qualify can help the school district receive more federal funding to help our students.  Once we have all the numbers in from the three days of enrollment, we look forward to sharing the information with the community.  I would also like to thank those involved in the donation of the big screen TV to help encourage participation in the free and reduced lunch application process.  The drawing will be live on the Alva Public Schools Facebook page August 23.

Finally, when visiting the website please take a look at what I consider to be the most important feature of our website.  It is found on the home page on the right sidebar titled “We Want Your Feedback.”  Please take a minute to fill out the form if you have a question, concern, or compliment for the administration to consider.

In the coming weeks, I will be updating the community on some of the work completed by our teachers this summer, the new programs we will be implementing this school year, and current educational news.
